GCC School Musical 2024

We are delighted to announce that the  TY School Musical production for 2024 is Mary Poppins. The GCC School Musical is always a highlight in our calendar and we wish everyone well as they start planning for the end of January. Lots of hard work, singing, dancing and fun ahead over the coming weeks and months.

GCC French Exchange 2024

Our French Department is planning for the year ahead and we are hoping to finalise details of our annual exchange trip to Paris before the end of September. The exchange this year will take place from Sunday 7 January 2024 to Friday 12 January 2024. The G.C.C. students will go to Paris during this time frame and the French students will return to Glanmire for a similar duration of time in April (exact dates to be confirmed). This is the sixth year that we are involved in this wonderful programme which has proven to be very enriching for both students and teachers. Lifelong friendships have been established through this exchange together with the remarkable improvement in students’ oral proficiency. We are grateful to Ms Casey and teachers from our French Department for providing this opportunity for our students.

Second Year Trip to Ballyhass Adventure Centre

On Monday 11 September, almost 200 second year students travelled to Ballyhass Adventure Centre in Coachford for a fun packed day of activities and fun. It was a great day out and a great opportunity for students to reconnect and bond after the summer break. There were many team building activities that developed new friendships and relationships. The activities varied from high net trampolines, wilderness survival, obstacle courses, archery, and the water park. Every student completed 4 different activities during the day. A big thank you to our staff involved for creating this opportunity and facilitating them on the day.

School Healthy Eating Working Group – Fizzy Drinks

Parents and students are asked to note that following feedback from our Healthy Eating working group, students will no longer be allowed to consume fizzy drinks on the school grounds or premises. This is in response to our Healthy Eating initiative in the school and the feedback to our working group from parents, staff and students. We are grateful to our canteen service provider O Crualaois for their support of this initiative. However, such a request must be supported by all stakeholders in the school and not just O Crualaois. Parents are asked to support this step by reminding students that fizzy drinks should not be purchased off site and brought into  school. We will monitor this for the next few weeks and review before the end of October. Thank you to Trish, Clare and all the O Crualaoi’s team for the great service provided to the staff and students in GCC.

Junior Cert Results

Parents are asked to note that Junjor Cert results will be available to students on Wednesday 18 October 2023.
