Dear GCC Parents, Guardians & Students,

GCC School Musical 2024 – Mary Poppins

We would like to congratulate all our staff and students on their brilliant production of our 2024 GCC school musical Mary Poppins. There has been such a wonderful atmosphere around the school this week in the build-up, and all the hard work, commitment and fun came together with a wonderful opening night performance. As always, we would like to express our gratitude to Ms Nicola Swanton and the team of staff involved in the production of our school musical. We are so appreciative of the commitment required and the immense positive impact it has on students who are involved. We would also like to thank teachers and the staff from our practical departments, caretaking, SNA and office staff who have been so helpful in the support given to the production. As always we are very appreciative of the support of our GCC Parents Council. The quality of singing, stage design, costumes and props were of the highest standard. The musical is always the highlight in our school calendar, and we wish everyone well with tonight’s final performance.

GCC Cocurricular and Extracurricular Activities

Parents are asked to note that we are now back at school three full weeks after the Christmas Break. In that period we have had a French Exchange to Paris, the BT Young Scientists, the GCC School Musical, GCC Health Week, oil painting workshops for TY’s and our GCC Ski Trip starting on Sunday. These are only a sample of the many co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that our students are being afforded through the support of our staff here in GCC. While it is not possible to mention every activity, on behalf of all in our school community we would like to thank our GCC staff for their  commitment and support for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the school which contribute to such a positive and enriching learning environment, both inside and outside the classroom for our students.

GCC Pre Examinations 2024

On behalf of our staff, students and parents, we would like to wish all our 3rd & 6th Year students well in their Pre-Exams starting next Monday. While the school will continue to operate as normal for our 1st, 2nd and 5th Years, we ask that students in these year groups be conscious of the need for calm around the school building so that our exam students have the best opportunity to perform  well in their exams.

GCC TY Work Experience

Our TY students head out on 2 weeks work experience starting next Monday 29 January and we are sure they will find it a very rewarding experience. We have very high expectations of our students in GCC and we highlighted to our students today the importance of representing our school to the best of their ability in the wider community.
