Dear GCC Parents/Guardians & Students,

GCC End of Term Message

With the mid-term break next week we want to thank all our staff, students and parents for your diligence, hard work and application that have ensured a productive and successful first term of the school year. In particular we would like to thank our students for their engagement with their programmes of work and their cooperation with the structures we have in place to ensure the efficient running of the school. This allows all of us to focus on our core work of Teaching & Learning here in GCC. The positive attitude of students and their willingness to work with staff has ensured a very calm learning environment throughout the school. Sincere thanks also to class and subject teachers, SNA staff and to our pastoral care team for supporting students since September. We thank all our students for their contribution to the school and we hope all our staff, students and parents enjoy a well-deserved rest during the break.

GCC 1st Year Halloween Classroom Decoration Competition 

Congratulations to 1st Year class group Rang Donnacha and their Class Teacher Ms Johnson who won the 1st Year Halloween Classroom Decoration competition. State Exams Commission (SEC) Survey

The SEC are currently running a survey for parents, students, teachers and school management in an effort to capture the opinions of all stakeholders on the future scheduling of the Leaving Certificate Gaeilge and Modern Foreign Languages Oral examinations. For the last two years these have taken place during the Easter holidays. Please click on the link below for further details and to access the survey. It is important we support the SEC in gathering this information as the feedback is likely to shape the SEC approach for many years to come.

The Laura Brennan HPV Catch- Up Vaccination Programme

Please click on the following link to view a letter with information about the Laura Brennan HPV Vaccination Catch up Programme. The HSE is offering young people the chance to protect themselves from HPV, by receiving the HPV vaccine, if they were not already vaccinated. The HPV vaccine protects against the human papilloma virus which is linked to several types of cancers. Most students will require only one dose. Those with underlying medical problems and weakened immune systems may require more than one dose. The vaccine is free and the programme will run until the end of 2023.
