Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

GCC Strategic Plan 2023 – 2026

Our GCC Strategic Plan 2023 to 2026 was officially launched on Wednesday by the Lord Mayor of Cork, Councillor Kieran McCarthy.

Forward planning is essential to give GCC the best opportunity for sustained and continued success. Many of the projects which the school has introduced over the last 3 years such as My Brain & Me, our school therapist and our all-weather pitch & walkway development were identified as priorities in our last Strategic Plan 2019 – 2022. This plan is totally representative of the ideas and thoughts of our stakeholders and will serve the school very well going forward. A link to the Strategic Plan is below:

On behalf of all in our school community we would like to thank all who have invested an incredible amount of work over the last number of months, in particular, the members of our Strategic Planning Steering Committee. As a school we have consulted widely and deeply with all of our stakeholders in an open and inclusive way. We are sure this work will continue to be transformational for the school and we look forward to seeing the school continue to thrive in the coming months and years

Lord Mayor’s Visit

On Wednesday 4 October the Lord Mayor of Cork Councillor Kieran McCarthy visited GCC with Cork City Council Chief Executive Ann Doherty. After being welcomed to the school the Lord Mayor was entertained by our GCC musicians under the direction of Ms Mannix. The Lord Mayor then heard from our Young Environmentalists team about their All Ireland winning project. Councillor Kieran McCarthy then addressed our 1st Year students and gave them the opportunity to ask questions. Please click on the link below to see some photos from the visit

GCC Safe Routes to School (SRTS)

Parents are asked to note that the school has received its Safe Routes to School outline delivery plan which includes, as an appendix, the results of the parent survey conducted as part of the SRTS process. The design and implementation of the proposed elements is the responsibility of Cork City Council. Now that the delivery plan has been received by Cork City Council, this will be developed into a preliminary design and a cost estimate prepared by consultants for City Council and submitted to the NTA for approval to proceed to the planning stage.
