Dear Parents,

Thank you for your continued co-operation with the school and our procedures. Please see below some brief updates.

Thursday 15 October 2020

As per our agreed calendar, school will finish at 12.30pm for all students next Thursday 15 October 2020.

Parents Council

Ms. Tina Coy has been selected as the Chairperson of the GCC Parents Council for the 2020/2021 school year. We would like to thank Tina for fulfilling this critical role in the school. We would also like to thank our outgoing Chairperson Ms. Janet Gahan for her outstanding work in the position over the last 3 years.

Due to the unprecedented challenges of Covid, we are affording parents another opportunity to join the Parents Council for the coming year. Please email gmirecol@glanmirecc.ie by Friday 23 October with the name of your child, class and year group, and the details will be passed on to the Parents Council. Our Parents Council meets every month with the school’s senior management. Our next meeting is Monday 9 November at 7.30pm. This meeting will take place via Zoom.

Calculated Grades

We have received notification from the Calculated Grades Executive Office that there have been changes to the results previously provided to students in our school, when the results initially issued on 7 September. A number of our students have had their results upgraded. The Calculated Grades Executive Office intend to provide the school with an updated Leaving Certificate (Calculated Grades) results matrix as soon as practicable.

Student Inhalers

Parents are asked to ensure that students who use inhalers have their inhalers on their person at all times. This is particularly relevant when the student is involved in PE or other activities.

Department of Education (DES) Survey

Glanmire Community College has been selected by the Department of Education and Skills to participate in a national survey on students’ experiences since the return to school in September. The survey link will be sent to parents via text next Monday 12 October 2020, and it will also be available on the school website. The survey involves all students from 1st Year through to 6th Year.

Face Masks on Buses

We have been asked to remind students who travel to school via bus (public or private) that you must wear a face mask for the duration of the journey .
