Dear Parents and Students,

GCC Safe Routes to School

We are delighted to announce that GCC has been allocated over €360,000 by Cork City Council as part of the Safe Routes to School programme. GCC applied to this programme in March 2021 and following an extended period, we received an Outline Delivery plan in October 2023 which can be viewed through the link below. Planning was received from Cork City Council last May.  They will now be going out to tender followed by construction which hopefully will be over the Summer at the latest.

  • Please remind families that anyone who is unwell should remain at home to help prevent the spread of infection.
  • Cough and sneeze etiquette, along with regular hand hygiene, are essential to limiting the spread of illness.

GCC Fit & Well morning for 5th Year Students – January 2025

As our 5th Year group embark on the second half of their school year, Ms. McInerney has organised a morning to help students upskill in areas promoting positive physical and emotional health.

Chair yoga incorporates techniques for stretching to promote good back health while studying. Students will also learn breathing techniques which they may find helpful as they prepare for their Leaving Cert. A Nutrition and Exercise workshop and a presentation on Positive Mindset should also be hugely beneficial. Finally, light refreshments will be provided by the canteen to allow time for a relaxing chat or a stroll.

Our thanks to Ms McInerney, Ms Leahy, Ms Moroney and Mr Kennefick for coordinating the event.
