GCC Vex Robotics

On Tuesday 13th April, the school Robotics team competed in a virtual live remote skills competition as part of the qualification process for the Vex Robotics world finals. The team have built two robots over the last few weeks, but have focused most of their creative, engineering and coding skills on one machine, the second being used as a backup. The enormous time and effort they have devoted to the project paid off and qualification to the worlds was achieved. Well done!

The team have two more virtual events to hone their skills and their design prior to the main event at the end of May.

Huge credit is due to all the team members, not just for their enthusiasm and self motivation, but also for the efforts they put in to look after their PR profile and their success in raising hundreds of Euro in sponsorship from local business.

The team is captained by Toby Tangney, R. Fionainn and team members are structured with key roles such as a public relations team, design team, coding team, and a build team. The other team members are;

  • Jack O Riordan (R. Colm) – Vice Captain
  • Emma Harrington (R. Diarmuid)
  • Ava Drake (R. Ciara)
  • Mike Coughlan (R. Eoghan)
  • Fionn Barry (R. Eabha)

  • Adam Cowley (R. Dara)
  • Rian Leahy (R. Colm)
