Students who have been nominated for a category award will receive notification via post by midweek next week. Nominees will gather in the PE Hall next Friday morning where the award winners will be announced. Award winners and nominees will be acknowledged on our school website next Friday.

6th Year Graduation

Parents are asked to note that our 6th Year Graduation ceremony will take place as per our agreed calendar on Tuesday 17 May at 7pm. We are proposing to hold the ceremony outdoors. This will allow the full group to graduate together and will enable parents to be present on the evening. In the event of inclement weather it will be necessary to have a contingency plan in place which may require dividing the student group. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this scenario.

ETB Ethos Student Poster competition

Congratulations to Helen Martins, Rang Donncha in 5th year, the winner of our school ETB ethos competition (see poster below). The theme of the competition was to promote the Core values of ETB schools which are; Excellence in Education; Care; Equality; Community and Respect.  In ETB schools, all students are given equal opportunities for enrolment in line with the Education (Admissions to School) Act 2018.  Once enrolled, our schools strive to provide all students with equal opportunities to engage with the curriculum and school life. In all aspects of school life all members of our school communities are treated equitably regardless of their race, gender, religion/belief, age, family status, civil status, membership of the Traveller community, sexual orientation, ability or socio-economic status.

Darkness Into Light

We are only hours away from the 2022 Darkness Into Light walk – The DIL Committee in the school would like to thank the community and the staff for their continued support of the event in the community. In order to successfully and safely run the event in 2022, we are calling on the community and staff to help us to make this possible.

We are still looking for volunteers tomorrow morning early (6th May). We will need volunteers for Stewarding – this is essential as without enough stewards the event cannot take place. We are also looking for volunteers to serve tea and coffee and light refreshments to the walk participants prior to and after the walk.  All help is greatly appreciated. You can email your interest to aisling.muldowney@glanmirecc.ie or DM the Facebook page directly Glanmire Darkness Into Light.

Vex Robotics World Finals

GCC Robotics team students are currently competing at the VRC VEX Robotics World Championships 2022. GCC along with Kinsale CC qualified in February as Ireland’s representatives for this, the world’s biggest Robotics competition. The team, ably led by their dynamic captain, Toby Tangney, will be spending 5 days in Dallas, three of which will be spent pitting their engineering and programming skills against high school teams from around the world, as their robots do battle on the “Tipping Point” game field. Their collective dedication and ambition won them their right to compete, but the support and generosity of the team’s various sponsors are making the dream a reality. Please a quick clip of the opening ceremony introducing the Irish Teams.
