Dear Parents,

Please see below some information on current events in the school:

1st Year EnrolmentĀ

At our Board of Management meeting last Monday 9 November the Board agreed to increase our 1st Year enrolment from 180 students (6 class groups)
to 210 students (7 class groups). The Board also agreed that a (separate) lottery would take place for Category 4, Category 5 and Category 6 applicants.

Information Seminar on LCA & Transition Year

Next Wednesday 18 November we will have our annual information Seminar on LCA & Transition Year for parents of 3rd Years. Due to Covid restrictions this will take place online. Access details will be circulated via the school website early next week.

Annual Mass of Remembrance

Our annual mass for the deceased members of our school community cannot take place this evening due to Covid restrictions. We plan to organise an appropriate ceremony to mark this event before the end of the month.

Epilepsy Training

We would like to thank our 20 plus members of staff who took part in Epilepsy training on Tuesday this week. Diabetes training has also been confirmed for Wednesday 25 November 2020.

School Books/Lockers

Parents and students are reminded that we have no short or medium term plans to make lockers available to students. Consequently, we have again reminded all our teachers to be conscious of the weight of school bags, particularly in Junior Cycle, and to be specific with students on the need to bring textbooks to school for the next day.

School Office
We continue to have a considerable number of parents coming to the school without prior arrangement with the school office. In line with Public Health advice, we are requesting parents to not come to the school office unless a prior appointment has been made.

Pupil/Parent/Teacher (PPT) Meetings

The first scheduled PPT meeting took place last Tuesday 10 November for 3rd Years. Please click on the link to view the guidance provided by the Department of Education.

Post-Primary_English Supporting collaboration with parent_guardians

The document provides 3 options for communicating with parents given current public health restrictions. These are additional reports, phone calls or video conferencing. Given the size of our school additional reporting was considered to be the most practical approach.

The school has set up a template on VSware where teachers can input their comments under 3 headings;

  • Academic Comment
  • Performance Comment
  • Target

Teachers are asked to provide a maximum of 3 bullet points under each heading. Our next PPT meeting is on Wednesday 25 November for 6th Years.
