Dear GCC Parents, Guardians & Students,
We are thrilled to announce that following the adjudication process for the PDST ‘Wellread National Award’, Glanmire Community College has been successful in becoming a Wellread School 2024 – 2027. The PDST Wellread National Award aims to promote the development of a reading culture in school communities because research has shown that this supports the personal and academic development of young people. The award requires the involvement of all stakeholders including students, teachers, parents, the board of management, and the wider community in reading and associated activities.
The Wellread adjudication committee highlighted the enthusiasm and creativity of all the partners involved in developing our GCC school portfolio and commended the Wellread team in GCC for bringing the school community together in such an enriching and worthwhile manner.
The Wellread Committee will contact the school during the first term of 2024/2025 to provide more details about the Wellread National Award Ceremony which will be held to celebrate this wonderful achievement.
On behalf of everyone in the GCC school community, we extend our gratitude to Aisling Ryan, Clare Madden, and the entire team for leading our school through this lengthy, but very rewarding journey.
We hope you are all enjoying the Summer break.
